The Expanded Beam Performance technology is an advanced fiber optic solution. It offers high-end transmission characteristics over many mating cycles. The excellent optical performance remains unchanged even under mechanical stress, environmental influences and harsh ambient conditions.
Since there is no direct contact between the contact ends, Expanded Beam connections are relatively insensitive to contamination and can be cleaned easily. No cleaning is required under normal conditions. This ensures reliable transmission without damage.
EBP technology, which has already proven its worth in the robust ODU AMC® Series T connectors, is now also being used in further product lines.
Hybrid use allows you to combine EBP technology with other media such as electrical signals or air and fluids. The robust interfaces of the ODU-MAC® products enable automatic or manual docking with a high number of mating cycles.
Thanks to the use of plastic, the ODU MEDI-SNAP is up to is up to 75% lighter than comparable products. It is ideally suited for mobile applications.
Impressive with push-pull or break-away locking, metal housing, protection class IP50 or IP68 in combination with the smallest diameter of an EBP connector (16.2 mm).
The ODU AMC® Series T with its innovative 3-in-1 locking system, non-reflective surface and high resistance to external influences has already proven its worth in combination with Expanded Beam Performance.

Granted, a playground may not be the most common area of application for the ODU MEDI-SNAP® – but our connectors are optimized for the most demanding environments.
Are you in love with detail? Do you have a keen eye that can spot the smallest speck of dust? And yes, you also have the patience of a watchmaker who can spend a week working on a single gear wheel? Then we have... NO JOB FOR YOU
Fiber Optic AND high-speed data technology in modular connectors? Sure, with the Expanded Beam Performance technolgy in the ODU-MAC® Silver-/White-Line!
Imagine Bert's situation: He finishes a big fiber optic project with multiple interfaces - and afterwards he learns that ODU has a much smaller solution with top performance for that purpose. Don't be like Bert. Order at ODU.
EBP technology is an advanced fiber optic solution that uses a lens to expand the light beam. As a result, the light is transmitted error-free from one ferrule to the other via lenses. The ferrule comprises 12 individual lenses, which supports both singlemode and multimode applications and impresses with improved attenuation values compared to standard market solutions. It combines the advantages of classic ferrule solutions with those of lens-based approaches:
It is particularly suitable for applications in harsh environments, both indoors and outdoors, where reliable and interference-free data transmission is required.
ODU EBP systems are designed for up to 50,000 mating cycles, which guarantees a long-lasting connection.
The insertion loss is typically < 0.35 dB for singlemode and < 0.15 dB for multimode, which ensures efficient signal transmission.
The return loss is typically > 60 dB for singlemode and > 45 dB for multimode, which contributes to high signal quality.
Yes, ODU's EBP technology is suitable for both singlemode and multimode fibers.
The EBP systems are designed for a temperature range of -65 °C to +105 °C, which allows them to be used in various environments.
No cleaning is required under normal conditions. However, the connections are easy to clean if necessary, as there is no direct contact between the contact ends, which increases their resistance to soiling.
