ODU Transceiver

From 2025, ODU will be the first supplier on the market to offer a complete end-to-end system solution for fiber optics with not only robust connectors but also robust transceivers. Conventional transceivers and their often dirt-sensitive interfaces have so far represented a weak point in the transmission path.

The introduction of a complete solution including robust transceivers within the transmission link ensures reliable and long-term data transmission. This means greater reliability and lower maintenance costs, as the entire system no longer has to be replaced due to a defective transceiver interface.

Transceivers convert the optical light signal into an electrical signal. The future transceivers will be equipped with an expanded beam ferrule instead of the previous MPO interface. This change eliminates the interface that is currently required, which has a short service life and requires a lot of cleaning. This makes the overall solution not only more cost-effective for customers in the long term, but also easier to maintain, as cleaning is no longer necessary.

ODU will include three variants of different standard protocols in its portfolio at market launch in order to meet the requirements of different application areas.
