FAQ about our electrical contacts

Are custom external contours possible?

Yes, custom outer contours may also be possible for special requirements.

Are surfaces other than those specified in the catalog possible?

As standard, ODU contacts can be gold or silver‐plated. For custom requirements, other surfaces are also possible on request.

What is the operating temperature range of the contacts?

ODU SPRINGTAC® and ODU TURNTAC® Contacts can be used between –40 °C and +125 °C. For ODU LAMTAC® Contacts, the upper temperature limit is +150 °C. Special high‐temperature contacts with an upper limit of +300 °C are available on request.

Which of the four product series is right for me?

This depends on your application and the field of use, i. e., how many mating cycles do you require and are you looking for a particularly vibration‐resistant solution? You can get an broad overview of the distinguishing features here. We will be happy to advise you.

 

I have an application that requires a high number of mating cycles. What is the right product for me?

The ODU SPRINGTAC® Contacts achieve up to 100,000 mating cycles. The springwires create an extremely large number of contact points, which guarantee constant transmission resistance.

What is the max. current‐carrying capacity?

The max. current‐carrying capacity depends on the product and the selected size. In high‐current applications, up to 2,000 A and more can be achieved. We will be happy to advise you on this topic.

What do I need to consider when assembling the contacts?

Do the contacts require regular maintenance?

For consistent performance over the whole period of use, we recommend using the ODU Service Kit, which you can order by sending an email to electrical-contacts@odu.de with the order number 170.000.000.000.100. You can download the service manual for this product here.
